Changes to Medical MOS 68 Series and Deletion of ASI

1.  SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT CHANGES.

a.  
Establishes MOS 68B to identify positions and personnel associated with Orthopedics Specialist.  Duties, functions,
positions and personnel associated with ASI P1, transferred from MOS 68W.

b.  
Establishes MOS 68C to identify positions and personnel associated with Practical/Vocational Nursing.  Duties, functions,
positions and personnel associated with ASI M3 and M6 transferred from MOS 68W.  Association with ASI M3 transferred from
MOS 68W.

c.  
Establishes MOS 68F to identify positions and personnel associated with Physical Therapy Specialist.  Duties, functions,
positions and personnel associated with ASI N9, transferred from MOS 68W.

d.  
Establishes MOS 68L to identify positions and personnel associated with Occupational Therapy Specialist.  Duties,
functions, positions and personnel associated with ASI N3 transferred from MOS 68W.

e.  
Establishes MOS 68N to identify positions and personnel associated with Cardiovascular Specialist.  Duties, functions,
positions and personnel associated with ASI Y6 transferred from MOS 68W.

f.  
Establishes MOS 68U to identify positions and personnel associated with Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist.  Duties,
functions, positions and personnel associated with ASI P2 transferred from MOS 68W.

g.  
Revises MOS 68W Health Care Specialist.  Deletes association with ASI M3, M6, N3, N9, P1, P2, P3 and Y6.  Duties,
functions, positions and personnel transferred to MOS 68B, 68C, 68F, 68L, 68N, 68U and 68Y.  Selected positions coded with
ASI F3.

h.  
Establishes MOS 68Y to identify positions and personnel associated with Optometry/Ophthalmology.  Duties, functions,
positions and personnel associated with ASI P3, transferred from MOS 68W.

i.  Revises ASI F3 to document selected positions in MOS 68W with the ASI.

j.  Revises ASI M3.  Restrictions revised to transfer association from MOS 68W to MOS 68C.

k.  Deletes ASI M6.  Duties, functions, positions and personnel transferred from MOS 68W to MOS 68C.

l.  Deletes ASI N3.  Duties, functions, positions and personnel transferred from MOS 68W to MOS 68L.

m.  Deletes ASI N9.  Duties, functions, positions and personnel transferred from MOS 68W to MOS 68F.

n.  Deletes ASI P1.  Duties, functions, positions and personnel transferred from MOS 68W to MOS 68B.

o.  Deletes ASI P2.  Duties, functions, positions and personnel transferred from MOS 68W to MOS 68U.

p.  Deletes ASI P3.  Duties, functions, positions and personnel transferred from MOS 68W to MOS 68Y.

q.  Deletes ASI Y6.  Duties, functions, positions and personnel transferred from MOS 68W to MOS 68N.

2.  IMPLEMENTATION.

a.  Training strategy.  
Additional Skill Identifiers M3, M6, N3, N9, P1, P2, P3, and Y6 currently associated with MOS
68W will be converting to the new MOSs
.  Each newly established MOS has a common module that will be incorporated
into the Program of Instruction for their course referred to as the “Introduction to Medicine” module.  In addition, those
additional critical tasks identified by the Course Directors for these MOS will be added to the MOS producing courses.  

b.  Non prior service accession.  The U.S. Army Recruiting Command may begin accessing into the new MOS 68B, 68C, 68F,
68L, 68N, 68U and 68Y, beginning on or after 1 April 2013.

c.  Army Recruiting Information Support System (ARISS).  This revision will require a change to be made to ARISS.

d.  Position recoding.  

(1)  Effective dates for the deletion of the ASI associations with MOS 68W and establishment of new MOSs 68B, 68C, 68F,
68L, 68N, 68U, and 68Y for use in position coding is 1 October 2013.

e.  Personnel reclassification.

(1)  The effective date establishment of new MOS 68B, 68C, 68F, 68L, 68N, 68U, and 68Yfor use in personnel classification is
1 April 2013.

(2)  The effective date for deletion of ASI M6, N3, N9, P1, P2, P3 and Y6 in personnel classification is 1 October 2013.

(3)  Specific personnel reclassification guidance is at enclosure 3.

(4)  Reclassification of personnel to MOSs 68B, 68C, 68F, 68L, 68N, 68U, and 68Y, deletion of the ASI and revision of MOS
68W will be accomplished during the 1 June – 30 September 2013 management of change reclassification window.  Effective
date of reclassification will be 30 September 2013.
